All about canoes

A small lightweight boat that is propelled by paddles is
called canoe. The number of paddles is determined by the
size of the canoe. The persons in a canoe may be sitting
or kneeling on a frame. Canoes are used for fishing,
camping, rafting, taking pictures, bird watching, among
other things. There are three categories regarding canoes:
Recreational canoes- This type of canoe is designed for
calm waters. They are very stable in the water and easy to
paddle. As a result they are also very fun. These canoes
are used for many things such as bird watching, taking
pictures and fishing.
River canoes - These types of canoes are very tough.
They are designed to get hits and scratches. They are
also perfect for river travel. They are very easy to
manoeuvre as well. This type of canoes is very much used
in rapids and river travel.
There are different kinds of styles of canoes. The
materials they are made of are of different quality. One
chooses one type of canoe or another depending on what
one wants to do with it. They are mainly made of four
different materials.
Canoes come in many types and styles. They are also
constructed from many different materials. They type of
canoe a person chooses depends on what he wants to do
with the canoe. Canoes are constructed with four different
materials. Wood, aluminum, plastic and fiber. Some
materials are better than others depending on what the
canoe will be used for. What the canoe is built out of
effects its toughness, performance, weight and price.
Wood canoes
Early canoes were made soley out of wood. The type of
wood used varied from birchbark, dugout, cedar-plank
sided, or any other type of wood. Todays modern wooden
canoes come in several types of wood. Most wooden canoes
nowadays are built using cedar strip and wood canvas. Cedar
Strip canoes are made using glued strips of cedar wood
and a wooden framed hull. Using wood for the construction
material allows the builder to make complex hull shapes.
Because of this a canoe can deliver enhanced performanced.
However they are heavier than canoes made from other
materials. They also need more upkeep than other canoes.
Aluminum canoes
These canoes are cheap and inexpensive due to the low cost
of aluminum. These canoes are a bit heavy however and
their ends cannot be streamlined. Aluminum canoes also
get stuck on rocks alot and get dents. Once an Aluminum
canoe is dented its there forever. Aluminum canoes also
need maintenance and care.
Plastics canoes
Plastic canoes are much more slippery than Aluminum
canoes and do not get stuck on rocks as easily. However
they are not as stiff as other materials. They cannot hold
complex shapes or be streamlined so well. This makes them
slower than when compared to wood or fiberglass canoes.
Fiber Canoes
These are made up of strong fiber material that does not
get damaged by high temperature and jolts of river. Fiber
canoes are made up of durable material that not only ensure
long life but are also easy to repair. Both structural and
wear and tear repairs can be made quire easily. This
fiberglass is suitable for all sorts of weather and their
maintenance cost is low.
